An Institutional Study Visit (ISV) is a visit to a governmental or non-governmental organisation, a public administration body or a private institution. On national level a study visit could be organised to federal institutions like the Federal High Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof, BHG), the Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht, BVerfG) or the national parliament (Bundestag), while on international level European Union institutions are usually preferred.
Depending on distance to the institution seat and the local group seat, a visits duration can be from a few hours up to a week, for instance when doing a European tour to several international institutions. No matter what, any institutional study visits offers a wonderful opportunity to obtain an inside view in actual legal work.
